Women For Wayne
"In seeking the Clerk and Recorder candidate who is rooted in conservative principles, has fought consistently for our Republican causes, understands the statutory duties of the office of Clerk and Recorder and has the ability to articulate our message and influence legislation, I have found Wayne Williams to stand out above the rest.
When confronted with the City of Colorado Springs' attempt to collect delinquent stormwater "fees" on our property tax bills, Wayne Williams and I led the fight against the attempt. Wayne and I strongly believe that the role of an elected official is to stand up and be counted, not to remain publicly silent.*
Wayne and I also led the charge to ensure that your 2010 El Paso County property taxes were lowered as required by TABOR. We argued our position and prevailed on a 3-2 vote preventing a "credit" which would have permitted a possible tax increase in the future without a vote of the people.
As a long time gun rights advocate, I am glad to support Wayne Williams because he too, has been a strong advocate for our Second Amendment rights. As he promised when he ran for Commissioner in 2002, Wayne led the fight to open up El Paso County Parks to fellow citizens who carry concealed firearms and he will never seek to ban concealed carry from county buildings.
Whether it's fighting to defend our property taxes from unlimited fees, leading the charge on protecting the voice of the people as they have demanded through TABOR, or protecting the Second Amendment, Wayne Williams has been there. We need that same conservative leadership in our next County Clerk and Recorder. That's why I am supporting Wayne Williams and I ask that you do as well on Saturday."
- County Commission Vice Chairman Amy Lathen
"It's important to have someone who knows and understands election law as our next County Clerk and Recorder. I've been on the State Rules Committee with Wayne Williams. When it comes down to the wire and you're challenged on an election issue, there's no one better than Wayne Williams.
When it came time to have someone testify on my bill to eliminate bribery in the election process, I went to Wayne Williams along with Scott Gessler, our Republican candidate for Secretary of State, and Jon Caldera of the Independence Institute. Once again, Wayne showed his willingness to fight for our election rights as Coloradans.
Another candidate for this office recently told you about testifying on a bill (HCR 1001) - a bill that was actually about her pay! I applaud any who testifies in front of the General Assembly but as County Clerk and Recorder I want someone who fights for honest elections - not just their pay.
Wayne Williams has always been there for our conservative causes. He's a social and fiscal conservative - the type of person we need we need in elected office and as our next El Paso County Clerk and Recorder. Please join me and the rest of the El Paso County Republican delegation in supporting Wayne Williams for Clerk and Recorder."
- Rep. Amy Stephens, Colorado House Republican Caucus Chair
"As the Chairman of the El Paso County Tea Party, I asked Wayne Williams to address at last year's huge rally in Acacia Park. With Wayne as a Commissioner, El Paso County has been the most fiscally conservative county government on the Front Range. The next closest Front Range county runs more than 52% higher per citizen than El Paso County.
Wayne's also fought for our rights as taxpayers. He's opposed taxes disguised as fees -like the stormwater fee-and objected to city enterprises collecting fees on our property tax bills. Wayne's lowered property taxes as required by the Colorado Constitution.
Wayne isn't just a fiscal conservative. He knows election law better than anyone I know. He's always been able to answer any question I have ever had immediately-and done it without charge as a public service.
Please join me in supporting Wayne Williams for El Paso County Clerk and Recorder."
- Cheri Ofner, Conservative Activist
"There is nothing more sacred than our election department. I know all of the candidates running and I've worked with two of them, but I want someone who will do an exceptional job. Just as he's done as County Commissioner, Wayne Williams will do an exceptional, top-notch job as Clerk and Recorder. We can all trust that Wayne will provide fair, open, and honest elections for all of El Paso County.
I served with Wayne on the County Commissioners. He fought hard for our area's transportation dollars, gaining funding for COSMIX and the I-25/Highway 16 interchange for Fort Carson. Wayne always conducted himself with integrity, honesty, and fairness. He is always courteous to the public, always listens to all sides, and always seeks the best answer for everyone and for this county. We could not have anyone better than Wayne Williams as our next Clerk & Recorder."
- Fountain Mayor Jeri Howells, Former County Commissioner
