"I'm pleased to endorse Wayne Williams as our next El Paso County Clerk & Recorder. I've known Wayne Williams for longer than just about anyone else in this county. We practiced law together in the early '90's prior to Wayne's opening his own small business.
"I've been on the same side as Wayne in legal matters and we've been in primaries together. I've also been on the opposite sides of Wayne in primaries and on the opposite side of legal issues.
"What people say about Wayne Williams is exactly true. He is fair-minded. He knows and understands the law. He knows what this party is about.
"As Clerk and Recorder, you have to be the person who runs free, full, and fair elections. Wayne knows how to do that. I have confidence that the people of Colorado and El Paso County will be well served by Wayne as he runs our elections and as he runs all of the other functions of the Clerk and Recorder's Office."
-State Representative Bob Gardner, Republican Party Chairman, 1993-1997

"I was the El Paso County Republican Party Chairman after Wayne. Wayne set a strong foundation for the El Paso County Republican Party, opening it up to more activists than ever before. Under his leadership, we elected our only Republican Governor since the 1970s and took over every house and senate seat in El Paso County.
"After his time as Chairman, Wayne helped counsel the party on election law and helped make sure we were in compliance with the legal requirements. Wayne has always been an active grassroots activist, helping to support our Republican candidates.
"I look at three things when choosing a Clerk and Recorder. First, I want someone who has great integrity. Second, I want someone who feels the election process is sacred and that we have to honor that process. Third, we have to have someone who has strong management skills.
"Wayne has all of these. Wayne has always stepped out and done what is right. He has great management skills. With Wayne Williams as our Clerk and Recorder, we can have trust and confidence in the election results reported from our county."
-Chuck Broerman, Republican Party Chairman, 1999-2003

"I asked Wayne Williams to serve as my Parliamentarian for the 2008 County Assembly because Wayne had the elections law expertise to ensure we met the requirements of state law. I'm supporting Wayne now for Clerk and Recorder because we need that same expertise to ensure that every vote is counted with accuracy and integrity."
-Greg Garcia, Republican Party Chairman, 2007-09

Lee Gilbert (Republican Party Chairman 2003-05) and Terry Kunkel (Chairman 2005-07) also have endorsed Wayne Williams for County Clerk and Recorder. Bob, Chuck, Lee, Terry, and Greg (together with Wayne) represent every living past Republican Chairman since Wayne Williams moved to El Paso County in 1992.
