Colorado Attorney General John Suthers
U.S. Congressman Doug Lamborn
April 3, 2010
Dear Fellow Members of the El Paso County Republican Assembly:
The office of County Clerk and Recorder is an office that has at times been overlooked. With the rise of far-left activist organizations like ACORN and shenanigans like those that have taken place in Florida, Minnesota, and New Jersey, it is imperative we elect a County Clerk and Recorder that will actively defend our voting rights. Because this election is so important, we agreed to do something we don't often do-serve as the co-chairs for a campaign in El Paso County.
One candidate-Wayne Williams- is the candidate for County Clerk and Recorder that will stand against these radical organizations and best defend our sacred right to vote. Wayne's background as an attorney will be valuable as we tackle legislative issues such as U.S. Citizenship and photo identification when voting. He is ready to take on the full-time role as County Clerk and Recorder because he has proven himself by representing the County Clerk and Recorder's office and the Republican Party on election matters.
Wayne sees this position as more than just an administrative role but, one where the elected official must be actively involved in the processes and decisions that are made by the Clerk and Recorder's staff. Wayne has proven to be an active participant through his roles as a County Commissioner, Chairman of the El Paso County Republican Party, and Chairman of the State Republican By-Laws Committee. Wayne has worked hard over the past 12 years to ensure that our Republican Assemblies and meetings have been run fairly and that every vote was counted. Additionally, he has testified before the Colorado State Legislature on variety of election issues, which proves he will take a stand for what is right for El Paso County. This is what we need in the Clerk and Recorder's Office-proven performance and leadership.
We need Wayne's strong fiscal conservative values to find ways to provide services with scarce funds. Wayne serves as a County Commissioner, and while other governments have struggled during these tough economic times, the Gazette recently reported that El Paso County operated with a surplus-without raising taxes. Because El Paso County reduced the size of government when revenues declined, there are 200 fewer county employees than just a few years ago. At a time when other governments-like the Democrats in Denver-have evaded TABOR, Wayne has consistently followed TABOR and the rest of the Colorado Constitution.
Wayne will find ways to use technology to provide better customer service. He has proven this through his work on increasing access to county government, including posting the county budget and other documents on the web. He will look for new ways to continue to improve the efficiency of the office and provide solutions to the numerous challenges our county faces. Wayne will continue in the vein of previous Clerk and Recorders to be accessible to the public. His cell phone number is published for all to see is719-439-1870 and his email is waynewilliams@frii.com.
In addition to a proven record as a fiscal conservative, Wayne has always been a strong social conservative. He and his wife Holly have been married for more than 23 years. They have raised four successful children.
On Saturday, April 10th, Republican Assemblies take place in many counties across Colorado and the 5th Congressional District. We will be at the El Paso County Assembly, but we also will be speaking at other county's assemblies. Because of this, we may not be on the stand when Wayne is nominated. We want you to know that we fully support Wayne Williams for El Paso County Clerk and Recorder and we ask for your support for him at the assembly at UCCS.
Sincerely,

Honorable Doug Lamborn
US Congress, 5th Congressional District

Honorable John Suthers
Colorado Attorney General
